addictions

My husband is now addicted to the cell phone. He called several times during their 6-hour trip to Gilmer. He called during the day while they were there. At night. Now he's calling on their way home. I love it! He finally can understand my own addiction to the cell phone. I feel so lost without it; like I've left one of my children behind at the store. It's a local call to make, so calling back and forth is even more fun knowing we don't have to pay for it.

I fed my other addiction last night. Gambling. Okay, not like I play blackjack or anything. Penny machines. Oh yah! My friend and I even have those rewards cards you slide into the machine while playing to rack up points. We also get coupons, events news and such in the mail. Last night they paid us $10 for going to gamble. Do you know how long you can play on the penny machine for $10? I played all freaking night. We switched machines several times to sit next to each other or try a new game. It was fun. Every machine I sat at I would start winning. One machine I put in $20 and in 3 minutes walked away with 43.00. Talk about exciting. When I went to meet Lalla with a huge smile on my face she said we HAD to buy scratchoffs tht night LOL I think we played for over 5 hours. We always have a good time.

Yesterday Sarah and I went bowling. My arm hurts and man those three games had me sweating! Yikes. I didn't realize how much work bowling was.

Jessica has the house rocking... she's so enjoying her stereo.

Now? It's time for shoe shoping and EAster outfit getting!

Wish us luck.

Happy Birthday, Baby!

She's not a baby anymore. My "baby" is Sweet 16! She's not a baby anymore!

What does she want? A stereo. Ahh, teens. Glorious teens.

Rich and Daniel left for Gilmer, Texas. They are going on a jeep trail ride with a group of jeepsters from the area. They are going to have a blast! I'm so jealous that I'm not going. The trip is 6 hours, and getting off at 3 makes you putting up a tent at midnight. Not my kind of fun. I cannot wait to see the pics when they get back.

Back to work!

Harder than waiting for Santa

Yes, my boss loved her cake. So did everyone else in the office. It was YUMMY.
She never suspected anything after the other gal told her I was going in that morning and had the dates mixed up. We totally pulled one over on her. That's hard to do with a boss!

My friend Karen sent me an invite to join one of those online DVD rentals. You know, it comes to your door, you watch, you mail back, more come. Vicious cycle that I'm sure will have me stuffing my face with popcorn, red eyes and staying up waaay to late just so I can see a movie in the comfort of my home. I'm all hooked up and my first set of movies arrived today - whoo hoo! With the weather like it is, it's gonna be good movie watching days.

My friend Karen also got a new fandangled toy. I'm highly jealous, but have no plans on getting on too. Anytime soon that is. She got a new cell phone with blue-tooth. She can have a wireless earpiece and still talk on the phone. I can just see her sitting at her desk yacking away and everything thinking she's talking to herself. Isn't technology wonderful????

Okie..off to work some more so I can bring the kiddo's to my moms to sing Happy Birthday to Jessice (16 on friday!) and then drop them off at CCD. Maybe after all that I can catch a movie?

Don't let the cat out of the bag!

I teased the internet about letting the cat of the bag and I should have been more worried about the gal in the office. Today is the boss's birthday. I'm taking a cake up there later today. My evaluation is on Wednesday. Last week when I made the date for the evaluation I did not want to make it on Monday. I was afraid my boss would say that was her bday, then when'd I'd bring a cake she'd think that by telling me it was her bday that I felt obligated to bring a cake. Not so. So I made the evaluation date for Wednesday.

Last night I emailed the gal in the office and told her I'd be bringing the cake after I get off work. I get off at 3, so I figured that would be a good break time and snack time. It's all sugar-free stuff so everyone there can enjoy it. They are doing a diet challenge and it ends this month. The other gal was supposed to pick up a Bday card this weekend. She forgot. Good thing I emailed last night. She had to swing by walmart on her way to work and pick one up.

So today I get an email from the gal while she is at work that said she told the boss I was coming in today for my evaluation. HUH??? She thought I was gonna kill two birds with one stone and do my evaluation on the same day that I brought the cake.

Sigh. I don't think my boss suspects anything. The other gal is famous for mixing things up. Maybe I should put her in the bag next time.

I ache all over

No, not from the flu, but from good workouts. It's been a busy weekend and hopefully it slows down as the week goes on.

Friday was great. Lots of good stories shared, good speakers and the CYO got many compliments on their soup. MMM, and the cornbread was an excellent touch. We also did Stations of the Cross and my gosh, at one point I thought I was going to have to leave the room. The retelling of Jesus as he carried his cross and was nailed to the cross. There is lots of kneeling, genuflecting and standing.. thus the reason for my aching body.

Saturday I stayed pretty busy with and missed a wedding I had been hoping to attend. Oh well, maybe they'll attend the reunion and I'll wish them congrats then.

Saturday, the kids each had a friend over to play and we lit the firepit at dark to roast weenies with all the trimmings. I was stuffed and tired.

Sunday, work was so bad that I even missed Church. Blah! I was so bummed about that. I worked just about all day Sunday too. I was able to cook supper early and as soon as there was a lull in work we headed to the gym. It was a great workout and I was able to destress and unwind after a very hectic weekend.

Tomorrow is my boss's Bday and I"m bringing a yummy to the office. Yall don't spoil it now! I want it to be a surprise for her.

Oh, my neighbor's daughter had her baby and they were at her house, so I walked down Saturday night to see her. She's got colic. Lordy, I don't miss that! Her lil mouth was opened so wide I could see her tonsils. Naturally, mamma came in and took her from me and she stopped crying. Nothing like mamma's arms.

Time for sleep.

Fits of giggles

I cannot help but giggle everytime I read this.

Then today I kept giggling while working. A doctor was saying the word bellybutton. I don't know why. It was just funny. Really funny.

The weather is gorgeous. Life is good. I'm all lined out on the weekend - hopefully everyone else here in the household is too! Lots going on, but it should run rather smoothly even though I have to work.

Hope everyone else has a great weekend too!

There is no denial

Everyone says my children look just like their father. And they do. And they are beautiful. I joke and say I only carried them and gave birth to them. He did all the rest.

As a matter of fact, they look soo much like their father that one day I took them to his job to pick up his check and this man came in the lobby. He worked there but they have a dry and a wet side and he and Rich worked on oppposite ends. They rarely see each other at work. He walks in and immediately says, "Those must be X's kids. They look just like him." I had never seen this man and he knew these were Rich's kids?? Freaky!

It also works to my advantage when we are out in public and the kids are acting a fool. I will say to Richard, "Ya know, when your X has the kids, I sure wish she'd teach them some manners!" hahahaha. I'm so mean. But gosh, it's so funny to see the look on his face.

Jessica may look like her daddy, but by golly she acts just like her mother. Lord, help us all. She was at drivers ed and the following happened. Abigail is a 14-year-old brat who will probably be getting her car IN the parking lot after the class is completed - before the even takes the test to see if she passes to get her permit. Abigail is also more worried about socializing with her friends, who are also taking the class too. So much so that Jessica has told them on more than one occasion to hush and even spoke to the teacher about their giggling and whispering and how her mother did not pay 200.00 to fail a test all because Abigail deemed it more important to make sure Judson tasted her Crystal Lite On-the-go drink make with bottled water that her mommy brought along with her Subway sandwhich for lunch earlier that day. Oh, but the real kicker is the following conversation:

They take tests and then they pass the paper to the person next to them to be graded. Jessica's friends have always called her Jess at school. At home, we are not allowed to call her that. (eye roll) So, she has Jess written at the top of her paper and passes it to Abigail.

Abigail - Uhm, is your name Jess-i-ca?
Jessica - uhmmm. Yes.
Abigail - Welll, you have Jess written at the top of your paper?
Jessica - Isn't your name Abigail?
Abigail - Yes. ?
Jessica - Well. YOU have Abby written at the top of YOUR paper.
Abigail - Oh. Yeah. I forgot about that.

OMGOSH! And this child will be driving!? Hopefully not. Hopefully her Crystal Lite drink and her subway and her friends will all fail. And I can drive with peace of mind.

My favorite story re-told by my child at driving classes was some kids asked the following...

"When we do the actual driving part, do we need to bring gas money?"

HAHAHAHAHAAHAHAH

Monday

yes, it's Monday. Need I say more? It's not that bad. It's just begun. How bad can it be? The kids were running late, I still haven't brushed my hair (Ya really wanted to know that, huh?), haven't had coffee, laundry is waiting and I didn't sleep well. I also missed going to the gym his weekend. Must make more time for myself. I had plenty of time. Amazingly, this weekend was a very relaxed weekend. No running around, no parties, no commitments. I was able to cook and do some other stuff all for me. The kids played outside both days and were in and out all during the day and the weather was fantastic! Today it's supposed to rain. Or begin raining. Maybe that's why it seems so gloomy?

I was just remembering when the kids would say "I wanna hold you" when they wanted to be held. Awww... my baby is now 10 and my teen will be 16 soon. Maybe THAT is why I'm gloomy??

Off to work! Thank goodness they won't complain about my lack of matching clothes or my bed head.

I can breathe!

I can finally breathe. Who knew your sinuses could hold so much gunk!? But I'm on the mend. That is, until pollen season hits. Oh joy!

Rich and I meet with some other Jeepsters here in town. It's not an official "club." It's just group of people who all have jeeps and love to talk about them, show them, see others and go on trips. They have an outting later this month. The destination is 6 hrs away. While I'd LOVE to go for the weekend, I just cannot imagine setting up a camper at 9pm. I think Rich and Daniel are going tho. They can leave at noon or before and have a great weekend of trail riding. The girls are I will do something. Even if it's just hanging here and doing NOTHING all weekend. Maybe we'll go out of town. Who knows. it's early still. I don't want to commit to anything just yet.

Busy weekend. Is there ever a quiet one? The girls have driver's ed tomorrow, CCD and then a friend is coming over to spend the afternoon. I think I'll invite a friend over to play too. A complete day of relaxing. Then Sunday it will be full steam ahead. Monday comes around just too quickly.

Okie, off to bed. Early to rise and lots to do!
